On the 1st November 2013, I have my first visiting artists named Stuwart Cumberland, which was organised by De Montfort University. Cumberland has a studio located in London, before this day I had never heard of this artists before. Within Cumberland's work he wanted to portray a lack of emotions or any depth within his paintings which signified his mind set at this time. The bold and thick mark makings is suggestive to anger perhaps depression. Often circle are used within Cumberland's work repetitively this could have been influenced by his repetitive lifestyle.
Personally at first Cumberland's work did not interest me, as it is simplistic and flat although now with better understanding after his presentation, he explained the level of meaning within her work.
