Dry Point on Newsprint

This was created by accident, you can see where I have layered and removed areas which I find interesting it highlight a sense of space awareness creating its own areas almost reflecting a barrier suggestive to a protector. The lines are intricate and delicate creating a calm atmosphere endearing the sensitive subject.

Drypoint on Tissue Paper on A4 Watercolour Paper

I have experimented layering tissue paper to create a texture and squeamish surface, creating a sense of realism reflecting a flesh like quality. The layered materials have create perspective highlighting space creating a distance from the viewer shielding the fetus.

Drypoint on Watercolour Paper

The mark making is gestural and sketchy creating a sense of movement almost capturing a scan like quality within my work. The piece withholds areas of fluidity reflecting the amniotic fluid.

Drypoint on Silk

I have been experimenting using the zest it within the process of creating the drypoint, this allows me to create a distortion of organic media replicating the amniotic fluid. I feel this piece captures clinical elements through its purity suggestive to innocence. The layered marks speculate the natural fluid creating a sense of realism. The intensity of colour reflects the piece into perspective as the fetus is positioned in a bubble of fluid.

Drypoint on Silk

The silk captures a delicate essence creating a sense of translucency, it almost reacts as a organic media, as suspended it captures the environments movement, creating a calm atmosphere almost cradling the subject.

I find the distortion of the zest it interesting, as it creates a sense of fluidity, they almost capture a essence of presence through air bubbles or breath. The different layers create a perspective as they surround the subject reacting as a barrier of protection highlighting the amniotic fluid bag.
